Connecting OSI Smart Alarm Wi-Fi (GSM) to Smart Life app with Android using AP Mode (recommended)

Which Version OSI Alarm System do you have?

Depending on when you purchased your OSI Alarm System, connecting to wi-fi will have slightly different steps. To see which version you have, please go to your OSI Display and select Menu >> Version. You will see either 2G or 4G on the line below where it says WI-FI MAC:

  • 4G Model (with touch screen display) (June/2022 & later): IOS & Android
  • GSM Model (with touch screen Display)(March/2022 & earlier): IOS or Android
  • Mini Alarm (hub only): IOS or Android

Note: Before starting these steps you should aleady have installed the Smart Life app on your smartphone/tablet and created your Smart Life account (see "how to set up a Smart Life account"). Please have the OSI Alarm Display near you before starting.

For Apple IOS users: How to connect the OSI Smart Alarm to Smart Life app with Apple IOS

Step 1

Open Smart Life app and select the "plus" icon at the top right corner

Select "Add Device"

Select "Sensors" on left panel, then select "Alarm (wi-fi)"

Select your 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi Network and enter your password and select Next. (Very Important: Ensure you enter the correct password)

Update: Smart Life app may ask you to select you Wi-Fi Network again. Select you network from the Wi-Fi Network List and then enter you Wi-Fi password and select Next, again please ensure that you enter your password correctly.

Step 5

On this screen it want you to confirm that the Alarm System (device) is in pairing mode. 

On the Alarm Display: Select MENU > WIFI > SOFTAP CONFIGURE > Then select the check mark. Once you do this a count down will begin. 300 seconds (5 Minutes)

On the Smart Life app: Select 'Next' when you see the image that says reset the device or if the image says 'confirm indicator is blinking' then select that. Again if you only s

If you see another image that says 'Confirm Indicator is blinking' Select 'Next' and then select "Blink Slowly"

Then select "Go to Connect"

Select the "SmartLife-(number)" There should only be one SmartLife Network to choose from. This is the network located within your OSI Smart Alarm.

Once selected you should see the SmartLife-XXX show up on the current network section of the Wifi screen on your phone/tablet

Select 'Connect only this time' if that message shows up, If it says below the SmartLife-xxxx network ' Connected without internet' then you are good to go to the next step.

Once selected return to the Smart Life app by selecting the back button on you android device.

 Note: If you do not return to Smart Life app it will not connect.   

 You will then see this screen below showing 'Adding device' or 'Connecting Device'.

Step 12

You should now see 'Added Successfully'. You can now select Done and now the Smart Life app is connected to the OSI Smart Wifi Alarm System. When you see the Alarm menu on the Smart Life app, select 'Disarmed' and you should here the Alarm Panel say. "System Disarmed" The Alarm Panel is now connected to the Smart Life app.
