Connecting OSI Smart Alarm Wi-Fi (GSM) to Smart Life app with Apple IOS using AP Mode (recommended)

Which Version OSI Alarm System do you have?

Depending on when you purchased your OSI Alarm System, connecting to wi-fi will have slightly different steps. To see which version you have, please go to your OSI Display and select Menu >> Version. You will see either 2G or 4G on the line below where it says WI-FI MAC:

  • 4G Model (with touch screen display) (June/2022 & later): IOS & Android
  • GSM Model (with touch screen Display)(March/2022 & earlier): IOS or Android
  • Mini Alarm (hub only): IOS or Android

Note : Before starting these steps you should aleady have installed the Smart Life app on your smartphone/tablet and created your Smart Life account. (see "how to set up a Smart Life account"). 

Please have the OSI Alarm Display near you before starting.

For Android users: How to connect the OSI Smart Alarm to Smart Life app with Android

Step 1

Open Smart Life app and select the "plus" icon at the top right corner

Select "Add Device"

Select "Sensors" on left panel, then select "Alarm (wi-fi)"

Step 4

Select your 2.4 Ghz Wi-Fi Network and enter your password or if your internet provider supplied you a new Smart Modem that automatically chooses between 2.4 and 5 Ghz networks, select your Network SSID (name) and enter your password. (please ensure that the password is entered correctly as in many cases this is why the Smart Life app will have problems connecting to the Alarm Panel)

When you have selected your Wi-Fi network and entered your password, select "Next"

Step 5

On this screen it wants you to confirm that the Alarm System (device) is in pairing mode. To do this, follow these simple steps on the Alarm Display Panel: Select MENU >> WIFI >> SOFTAP CONFIGURE >> Then select the check mark. 

Once you do this a count down of 300 seconds will begin. Once this happens select 'Confirm Indicator is Blinking' on this screen as per the image below (NOTE: Do not select "Reset Device)

Select "Blink Slowly" as shown below.

When you seen this page, select "Go to Connect"

Under the Settings screen select "Wi-Fi"

On the Wi-Fi screen, under "NETWORKS" select "SmartLife-XXXX" (XXXX will be 4 unique numbers and letters)

Once selected you should see the SmartLife-XXXX now show up on under "Wi-Fi" with a blue check-mark and it will also say 'No internet Connection' 

Now immediatly return to the Smart Life app by pressing the words "Smart Life" at the very top left corner of your phone screen. As shown below, It will appear very small.

You will then see this screen below showing "Adding device". 

Note: If did not select 'Smart Life' at the very top left and did not return to Smart Life app as shown below, the alarm panel will not connect to the Smart Life App.

Step 12

You should now see 'Added Successfully'. 

You can now select 'Done' and 'the Smart Life app is now connected to the OSI Smart Wifi Alarm System.

You should now see the OSI Alarm System Menu. 

Select 'Disarmed' on the Menu to confirm that you hear it on the Alarm Panel.
