What is the detection range for the PIR Motion Sensor?
The detection range for the PIR motion sensor is approx. 26 feet (8m)
The Maximum Distance sensors can be away from the Alarm Display:
- Door-Window Sensor: 30m (98 Feet)
- PIR Motion Sensor: 40m (130 Feet)
- remote control: 40m (65 Feet)
Important: The distances noted above are tests conducted in an open space with no obstructions. Walls or other barriers will affect the signal strength. A Concrete wall or metal cladding can greatly reduce the signal distance. If your sensors or magnets are mounted on a door or window (or door/window frame) that is metallic, this can interfere with the magnetic field of the magnet. An RF signal repeater can solve sensor connection issues. Follow this link for Solutions to sensor connection issues.
If you reduce the distance of the sensor totals above by half, this will give you an idea as to how far the sensors can be away from the alarm display with minor obstructions. Again, if you run into any connection issues we recommend purchasing the RF signal repeater.
How many Sensors can you add to the OSI Alarm System?
A Maximum of 99 sensors can be added (for a total of 100 wireless defense zones, zone 0 is reserved for the SOS(panic) button on the panel. Sensors (detectors) and remotes share the same limit.
(For example, if you added 10 sensors, then you can only add 89 remotes. On the other hand, if you already added 89 sensors, then you can only add 10 remotes.
How many Sensors can you add to the OSI Mini Alarm?
A Maximum of 50 sensors can be added. Sensors (detectors) and remotes share the same limit.
For example, if you already added 10 Sensors (detectors), then you can only add 40 remotes. If you already added 40 remotes, then you can only add 10 sensors.
How do you replace the battery in the Window-Door Contact Sensor?
Here is an easy to follow 3 minute step-by-step tutorial on how to replace the battery in your window-door contact sensor. You will need a flathead screwdriver and 2450 3V Lithium Coin battery.
How do you replace the batteries in the Motion Sensor?
Here is an easy to follow step-by-step tutorial on how to replace the battery in your Motion sensor. You will need a flathead screwdriver and 2 x AAA Batteries.
How long do OSI Alarm Sensor batteries last and is there an indication when they are low?
How long the batteries last depends on usage but typically all sensors usually last approximately 1 year. We recommend getting into the habit of changing the batteries for all your sensors at the same time as when you replace the smoke detector batteries. The Smart Life app will notifiy you when the batteries are low.
- Door/Window sensors: 3- 12 months
- Motion PIR sensors: 6-12 Months
