A Smart Plug with the following specifications:
- 433 MHz frequency
- EV1527 RF (radio frequency) Encoding
Note: To avoid a fire hazard, the wattage of an appliance should never exceed the wattage of a Smart Plug.
Can I control electrical devices with this system? Yes
With the Alarm Panel you can do the following with an electrical socket:
It can be used as an Alarm Socket. When a sensor is triggered and the Alarm Panel, alarms, the electrical socket will turn on. When the Alarm Panel is disarmed, the Socket will turn off.
It can be used to control, turn On/Off an appliance. You can set up Socket Timer preferences to turn the electrical socket on or off at specific times and days of the week Monday to Friday. Important: ensuring that the amperage of the electrical socket matches the amperage requirements of the appliance is crucial for safety and proper functionality. The amperage (measured in amps) is a measure of the electric current flowing through a circuit. If the amperage of the electrical socket is lower than what the appliance requires, it can lead to overheating, damage to the appliance, or even cause a fire.
IMPORTANT: At present, we are refraining from selling the Smart Plugs (Electrical Sockets) as they have not been approved by CSA or UL. We would like to clarify that if you decide to purchase a socket from an alternate vendor, OSI Go Direct cannot be held accountable for any ensuing damages.
Conclusion: Since the Alarm System can only use smart plugs with at 433 mhz frequency / EV1527 RF encoding we reommend purchasing Wi-Fi Smart plugs as they have more features, will function with Google Home and Alexa and can be remortely controlled with the app it uses.
