What “Zones” Mean in the OSI Gen 2 Alarm System

1 min. readlast update: 06.09.2025

In our OSI Wireless Alarm System, the term zone simply refers to the location or description assigned to each sensor (e.g., “Front Door,” “Living Room,” “Basement Window”). It helps you identify where an alert is coming from. While some security systems use "zones" to mean separate sections of a home or business that can be armed/disarmed independently, our system does not support zone-based partitioning. All sensors are part of a single system that is armed or disarmed together.

So to clarify:

  • Each sensor = One zone

  • Zones help identify specific sensors, not entire rooms or areas

  • You can customize the zone name to match the sensor's physical location for easy reference

We hope this clears up any confusion!
