What Happens When You Select Recover on Your Gen-2 Alarm Panel

The Recover option on your Gen-2 Alarm Panel is a powerful reset function. It is designed to return your panel back to its factory default settings, erasing customized configurations. This can be helpful if you are troubleshooting or preparing the system for a new installation—but it is important to understand exactly what changes will occur.

Before Using Recover

  • Only the System Code can select the Recover option.

  • You will be asked whether to delete all sensors (accessories) or to keep them.

This gives you the choice to preserve your paired accessories or start completely fresh.

What Recover Does

Once Recover is selected, the panel will reboot to the welcome screen, where you will:

  • Choose your language again.

  • Optionally follow the setup tutorial (or skip if you already know the system).

  • Land on the main menu with factory default settings restored.

Settings That Will Reset to Default

Here’s what changes back to default after Recover is selected:

Connections

  • Entry sensor settings: Chime and Warning enabled

General Settings

  • Time format: 24-Hour

  • Display: 100% Brightness, 60-second timeout

  • Audio: Voice tone enabled, Key beep enabled

  • Doorbell volume: 8

  • System volume: 7

  • Language: must be re-selected

  • SIA: ADM-CID 'Fully resets SIA settings'
(Used with our Professional Monitoring Services)

  • Style (User Interface): Dark style, Normal home view

  • Phone numbers: Cleared

Security Timings

  • Arm delay: 40 seconds

  • Alarm delay: 30 seconds

  • Siren time: 180 seconds

Alarm Setup

  • Local alarm: On

  • Siren alarm: On

  • Siren beep: Off

  • Delay beep: On

  • Arming requires code: Off

User Codes

  • User code resets to 1234

  • System code resets to 9876

Important Considerations

  • Any custom settings you created will be lost. For example:

    • Custom arm/alarm delays

    • Personalized volumes

    • Style/UI preferences

    • Special alarm setup options

    • Custom user/system codes

  • If you select to delete accessories, you will need to re-pair all sensors to the panel.

  • If you keep accessories, they remain paired, but their advanced settings reset to default.

When Should You Use Recover?

Use Recover if:

  • You want to troubleshoot recurring issues.

  • You’re handing the system over to a new user.

  • You want to clear all personal configurations and start fresh.

Avoid using it casually—Recover is not a simple restart, it’s a full reset.

Tip: Before performing Recover, make a note of your preferred settings and codes. This will make re-configuring much quicker.
