Smart Life App problem sharing device due to users located in different countries

1 min. readlast update: 02.14.2025

Situation:
For example you are from Canada and just installed the OSI security (Gen 2) system down in South America. When trying to share the system with your partner's Smart Life account on their cell (South America) you may see a message that says: "The users you're inviting are located in different data centres. Device sharing is not allowed due to data protection policies."

Possible Solution:
The problem you are encountering is due to data protection policies, which do not allow sharing of devices between different data centers.

For this situation, the current solutions can refer to the following points:

  1. Register in the same data center: Make sure the invited users register their accounts in the same data center. This means that you and your partner need to set up accounts in the same country or region.

  2. Change data center: If you or your partner's account is not in the correct data center, you can try to re-register the account and select the corresponding region.
