Receive a Notification When a Door or Window Opens or Closes

3 min. readlast update: 12.12.2025

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Please read this article before using this function — a firmware update may be required for your system to support it. If you have a Gen 2 alarm panel with firmware version 2.3.00, your system already has the latest updates. To check your firmware version:

Go to Settings on the alarm panel display → Select Help → Select the “i” at the top left. If your version is 2.1.28 or earlier, follow the linked instructions above to update your firmware before proceeding with the steps below.

Door and Window Sensor Open/Close Notifications

A new setting introduced on the Gen 2 Alarm Panel (firmware ver. 2.1.22 and newer) allows the system to record when an entry sensor — such as a door or window sensor — has been opened or closed. You can choose to enable or disable this feature depending on your preference. osigodirect.kb.help

In addition, when using the Smart Life app, you can receive a push notification on your phone whenever a door or window sensor is opened or closed — as long as the alarm system is disarmed. This notification option can also be turned on or off within the app.

Important:
Disabling this function will stop the device from keeping an open/close log and prevent entry notifications from being sent. However, when the system is armed, the alarm panel will still record an Entry Alarm in the alarm history and will send a triggered alert through the Smart Life app (provided “System Notifications” are enabled in the Smart Life app settings).

How to enable or disable this function on the alarm panel display

  1. Select the 'Connection' button
  2. Enter your passcode
  3. Then select the 'Sensor' button

  4. Then select the door or window entry sensor.
  5. Then select the 'Entry Sensor' Advanced button
  6. You can then enable or disable the 'Entry Event notification' setting
  7. When enabled, the alarm panel will keep a log under 'Alarm Log'  when the door or window has been opened or closed.
  8. Selecting the Sheild on the main menu of the alarm panel will reveal the 'Alarm Log'.

On the 'Alarm Log' you will then see when a door/window has been opened and closed.

To enable or disable this function on the Smart Life App

1.  On the Smart life app open the OSI Alarm device and select 'Setting'

  1. Scroll up until you see 'Entry notification' You can disable this setting if you do not want to receive a notification when a door/window has been opened.

In addition, when this button is disabled, the 'Security records' on the app will not keep a log of when a door or window has been opened or closed.

Please note that this setting is dependant on the 'Entry Sensor' on the alarm panel display, under the advanced setting being enabled as discussed in the above instructions: How to enable or disable this function on the alarm panel display
