How to Receive Alerts Only for Human Detection on Your OSI Camera

2 min. readlast update: 10.22.2025

Overview:

If your OSI camera is sending alerts for general motion (such as moving objects or shadows) even when Human Detection is enabled, this may be due to overlapping detection settings. Follow the steps below to ensure that alerts are triggered only when a person is detected.

Steps to Enable Human Detection Only:

  1. Go to Detection Alarm Settings in your camera’s app.

  2. Turn off both Motion Detection and Human Detection.
(If Human Detection and Motion Detection are both turned on. Turn off the Human Detection first, then turn off Human Detection.)

     Then follow these steps below:

  3. Turn on Motion Detection Alarm.

  4. Then, turn on Human Detection.

  5. Finally, turn off Motion Detection Alarm.

Additional Settings (Optional):

You can still adjust:

  • Activity Area: Select which area in the camera view should trigger alerts.

  • Alarm Sensitivity Level: Choose how sensitive the detection should be.

After adjusting these settings, you can again verify that Motion Detection Alarm is turned off.

Why This Works:

This sequence ensures that only Human Detection remains active. When configured this way, the camera will send alerts only when a person is detected, filtering out general motion events such as moving vehicles, trees, or animals.

Please note: While this setup greatly reduces false alerts, you may still occasionally receive a false alert.

Note:

We apologize that this configuration was not clearly explained in the original instructions. Our support team is updating the user manual to make this process easier to follow.  We will also be creating instructional videos for our YouTube Channel.
