Gen 2 Alarm System – Temperature Display Not Updating (Static Weather Reading)
Overview
Some users may notice that the temperature displayed on the Gen 2 Alarm System remains fixed and does not update with current outdoor weather conditions. This article explains the symptoms, cause, and resolution steps to restore normal temperature updates.
Symptoms
-
The temperature on the alarm panel display does not change.
-
The same temperature and weather icon appear every day (for example, –15°C with snow).
-
The system is connected to Wi-Fi with a strong signal.
-
Firmware has already been updated to the latest version.
-
All other system functions appear to work normally.
Cause
In some cases, the alarm panel’s weather data service may stop refreshing due to a temporary software or communication interruption. A full power cycle resets the system services and restores proper synchronization with the weather server.
Resolution (Recommended Solution)
Perform a full power cycle of the Gen 2 Alarm Panel:
-
Unplug the power adapter from the alarm panel.
-
Turn OFF the backup battery switch.
-
Wait one full minute.
-
Plug the power adapter back in.
-
Turn ON the backup battery switch.
Additional Check
After restarting the system:
-
Navigate to system settings and confirm the alarm panel is running the latest firmware version.
-
Install any available firmware updates if prompted.
Expected Result
After completing the power cycle:
-
The temperature display should begin updating normally.
-
The weather information will follow real outdoor temperature changes.
Confirmed Outcome
After performing the steps above, the customer confirmed that:
-
The temperature display resumed normal operation.
-
The system now updates according to current outdoor weather conditions.
If the Issue Persists
If the temperature still does not update after completing these steps:
-
Repeat the power cycle once more.
-
Confirm Wi-Fi connectivity is stable.
-
Contact OSI support with details of the issue and firmware version currently installed.
Summary
A full power cycle resolves most cases where the Gen 2 Alarm System shows a static or incorrect temperature reading by restarting background services responsible for weather updates.
