Features of the Gen 2 Alarm Panel and comparison to the Gen 1 alarm system

a. Interactive set-up wizard (Current system does not have this feature)

c. Alarm Panel firmware updates via the Smart Life app  (Current alarm panel does not have this feature)

d. New sensor design and antenna (Far more superior than the current sensors) 

e. Multi User levels access - 2 Admin users and 2 user accounts with limited access  (Current Panel does not have this feature)

f. 24 hour built in back up battery (Current panel has 2 to 3 hrs of backup battery power)

g. Dual use entry sensor option so you can simultaneously use an entry sensor as an alarm trigger and entry chime. (Current system does not have this feature)

h. On the app itself you can see which zone (door or window is open) (Current Panel does not have this feature) I:  In the Smart Life App you can rename the sensor name. The name you create on the app will also change the default name on the alarm panel to the name you gave the sensor.  This will help with identifying specific areas where you installed the sensor.  (Current Panel does not have this feature)

i: Uses USB-C which is reversible. Hence, it can be inserted into the port in either way. (Current Panel uses micro USB)

j: Wireless Siren plugs directly into a wall socket and has built-in 3.7V/500mAh lithium battery, 8 hour back up battery

k: New firmware to be release that will create log files when a door or window has been opened or closed. In addition an option to receive notifications when a door has been opened or closed.

l: New firmware to be released that will allow customers to choose between 24hr time or 12hr time (AM/PM) time format

m: New firmware to be release to ensure that the backup battery has been turned on. A message will appear on the screen as a reminder.

Note: Gen 2 alarm panel display does not support the RFID tags. Development of the Gen 2 focused on security access through the touch screen, Smart Life App and Remote. Current Gen 2 does not support a cellular SIM card. This is currently being developed for a future model

Additional Questions:

  1. Can I use Window-Door and PIR old sensors? Yes, they can pair to the Gen 2 Alarm System
  2. Can I use RFID contact remote control with the new version? The Gen 2 in not RFID capable as they focused on entry using passcode on the display, remote or smart life app.
  3. Can I use former remote controls also? Yes, they can pair to the Gen 2 Alarm System
  4. I have couple of wireless Gen 1 strobe sirens. It will work with new panel? Yes, they can pair to the Gen 2 Alarm System
  5. I have four OSI Wi-Fi cameras. Will all of them will work with Gen 2 ? The Gen 2 is a standalone system that does not integrate with cameras, however the Gen 2 and OSI Wi-Fi cameras both use the same Smart Life app. The camera's will compliment the alarm system.
  6. Do you sell, gas leak detectors, smoke detectors or water leak detectors. These products are not currently offered for sale due to the necessity of obtaining government standard approvals. However, if you manage to acquire a detector with the following specifications: EV1527 RF coding using a 433 MHz frequency, it can be synchronized with our alarm system. It is important to note that OSI cannot be held liable or responsible for any items not sold by our company. 
  7. Do you sell glass breaking vibration sensors? We will be coming out with the vibration sensors at the end of May. The estimated price will be $24.95
  8. Is there a remote keypad for the Gen 2 Alarm System? We will be coming out with the vibration sensors at the end of March. The estimated price is $49.99
  9. Are the PIR Sensors Pet Friendly? The Pir Sensors are quite sensitive. It is recommended for pets that the sensors be installed a minimum of 7.5 to 8 feet high, PIR sensors work by detecting changes in infrared radiation within their field of view. By adjusting the sensor's angle, you should be able to focus it more on human-sized movement while minimizing detection of smaller objects, such as your dog or cat. Aim the PIR sensor slightly higher so that it is less likely to detect movement at lower levels.
