'Duplicate Paired Accessories' message while trying to add a second sensor to the Gen 2 alarm panel

When attempting to add a second motion sensor to the Gen 2 alarm panel.

The following message appears 'Duplicate Paired Accessories'

The main reason for this occurring is that if you have already paired a PIR motion sensor with the alarm panel, while pairing the second PIR motion sensor, the alarm panel picks up the IR signals from the first paired PIR sensor, as it is always actively monitoring for IR body heat/movement. This results in the 'Duplicate Paired Message.'

To resolve the duplicate pairing issue with your PIR motion sensors and the alarm panel, follow these steps:

  1. Delete the PIR motion sensors from the alarm panel.

  2. Turn off power to all PIR motion sensors.
Note: If you remove the back cover from a motion sensor that has already been added to the alarm panel, it will trigger the alarm panel as taking off the back cover triggers the built in tamper switch that is located under the sensor cover as show here. On the left is the tamper switch and on the right is the lever that sits on the tamper switch.

  3. Turn on and pair each PIR motion sensor one at a time.
After pairing each sensor, turn off the first sensor that you paired to avoid interference from other sensors during the pairing process.

  4. After pairing each motion sensor, check the alarm panel to ensure that you see that the motion sensors have been paired.  You should see the motion sensors listed on the alarm panel.

  5. Once all motion sensors are paired, turn the motion sensors back on and test the system by triggering each sensor individually to ensure they are working as expected.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the duplicate pairing issue with your PIR motion sensors and the alarm panel.
