Create Scene to turn motion detection for 2 or more Cameras On or Off

Clear the cache in the smart life app

  1. First clear the cache on the Smart Life app
  2. Open Smart Life App and select 'Me' on the bottom right side
  3. At the top right select ' Settings' looks like a nut
  4. At the bottom select 'Clear Cache' A message saying cache cleared successfully will appear. 
  5. After you have cleared the cache, shut down the Smart Life app and open it back up again.

Creating a scene to turn the camera motion detection 'On' for all cameras

Step 1: Open the Smart Life app and select the 'Scene' button at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Select the 'Create Scene' button. We will first create a scene to turn the camera motion detection 'On' for all cameras. When you manually turn the motion detection 'On' for a single camera, it will turn 'On' the motion detection for the other camera's you added to the 'Scene'

Step 3: Now select 'When device status changes'

Step 4: On the next screen will display 'All Devices' Select the first camera you want to add to the scene.

Step 5: On the 'Select Function' screen, select 'Motion Alert'

Step 6: Select Motion Alert 'On', then 'Save'. Then select 'Next' at the top right of the screen

You will then return to the 'Create Scene', 'If' and 'Then' condition.

Step 7: Select the '+' sign again beside the 'If' conditon and repeat steps 3 to 6 to add additional camera devices, one at a time.

Step 8: When you have completed adding the devices, check that you have added all the camera devices to the Create Scene 'If' condition that you wanted. See example below.

Step 9: Next, select the '+' sign to the right of the 'Then' condition.

Step 10: Select 'Control Single Device

Step 11: Then select in order the camera device you first selected in Step 4.

Step 12: Then select 'Motion Alert

Step 13: Then select Motion Alert 'On' then 'Save'. Then select 'Next' at the top right of the screen

Step 14: Repeat steps 9 to 13 to add additional camera devices one at a time. 

Step 15: Check that you have added all the camera devices to the Create Scene 'If' condition. See example below.

Step 16: Save the scene

Step 17: Name the Scene to 'Turn Motion Detection On', then select 'Confirm' to save

Step 17: Automation created. Start Using it? Select 'Yes' and automation will be saved

Creating a scene to turn the camera motion detection 'Off' for all cameras  

Step 18: Now select the '+' sign on the top right corner to create a new Scene. We will now create a scene to turn the camera motion detection 'Off' for all cameras. When you manually turn the motion detection 'Off' for a single camera, it will turn 'Off' the motion detection for the other camera's you added to the 'Scene'

Step 30: Repeat steps 25 to 29 to add additional camera devices one at a time.

Step 33: Name the Scene to 'Turn Motion Detection Off', then select 'Confirm' to save

Step 34: Automation created. Start Using it? Select 'Yes' and automation will be saved

You have now completed setting up the two scenes to turn the motion detection 'ON' and 'Off'

How to test if the Scene Automations you created are working properly.

  1. Select Home at the bottom of the screen to display 'All Devices'
  2. Select one of the cameras you added to the scene
  3. Select on the bottom right corner the arrow with the two lines below it to open the camera menu
  4. If for example the 'Motion Detection' Icon is orange, which means motion detection is 'On' select the icon to turn it 'Off'. The other cameras that you added to the 'Scene' will also turn the motion detection 'Off'  
  5. Go to the 'All Devices' page and select one of the other cameras, open the camera menu and you should see that the 'Motion Detection' button is turned 'Off'. Additionally you can check any other camera that you added to the Scene list.
  6. Now select a camera under 'All Devices' again and turn the Motion Detection 'On' and check that the other cameras have motion detection turned 'On'
  7. Tip: You can add a camera to you phone home screen. When you are viewing a live feed of one of your cameras. select the three dots ... on the top right side of the screen. This is the setting menu.Scroll to the bottom and select. 'Add to Home Screen', then select 'Add' You now have a short cut on your phone home screen so you can access the camera faster.
