Camera will not scan the QR Code on my phone

When adding the OSI Wi-Fi camera to the Smart life app, some customers have had a challenge when they need the camera to scan the QR Code on their phone.

Possible Reasons:

  1. Screen Brightness and Glare:

    • If the customer's phone screen was either too bright or too dim, or if there was a glare on the screen, the camera might have struggled to accurately capture and decode the QR code. When the friend took a photo of the QR code and displayed it on their phone, the brightness or angle might have been more suitable for the camera to scan.
  2. Screen Resolution and Pixel Density:

    • Different phones have different screen resolutions and pixel densities, which can affect how clearly the QR code is displayed. If the customer’s phone had a lower resolution or different pixel density, the QR code might have appeared slightly blurred or pixelated, making it difficult for the camera to scan. The friend’s phone might have had a better screen resolution, displaying a crisper QR code that was easier for the camera to read.
  3. Display Quality:

    • The quality of the display technology (e.g., LCD vs. OLED) can also impact how well the QR code is rendered. Some displays might show a QR code with better contrast or more accurate colors, which can affect the camera’s ability to scan it. The friend's phone might have had a display that presented the QR code in a way that was easier for the camera to scan.
  4. Image Processing Differences:

    • When the friend took a photo of the QR code, the camera in their phone might have processed the image in a way that enhanced the QR code’s readability (e.g., by increasing contrast or sharpening the image). This could have made it easier for the floodlight camera to scan.
  5. Potential Screen Size Difference:

    • If the friend's phone had a larger or smaller screen, it could have displayed the QR code at a different size that was more optimal for the floodlight camera to scan.

There are two solutions you can try.

  1. Try connecting using the Wi-Fi Mode method

  2. Still using the QR Code method, during the adding camera process when you reach the point to show the QR Code to the camera and the camera will not scan the QR Code.

Take a photo of the QR Code using a second cell phone.

Show the photo of the QR Code from the second cell phone to the Wi-Fi camera.  When the camera chimes and the flashing red light turns blue, you can then select 'I Heard a Prompt' on your cell phone to continue the final process of adding the camera to the Smart Life app.
