What is the Difference between System Password & User Password

2 min. readlast update: 10.17.2023

Models purchased in 2022 and onwards

*Note: Always keep your system password in a safe place, if you forget this password, you will need to contact the manufacturer to unlock it. this is a security feature.

System Password: Entering a SYSTEM password Is the same as a master code. You can also change the USER PASSWORD as well.

User Password: Anyone who unlocks the display with User Password cannot change the Master Password. You would typically give the USER Password (which should be different from your Master Password) to your kids, guests roommates or Airbnb renters where you may want to cut off access, or need to change it when they leave/move out, or just want to change the password to somthing easier to remember.

Models purchased in 2021 and before

This will only allow you to have 2 different passwords (one system and one user). If you unlock as User or System you can change each others passwords so there is no security feature to this at all. This was changed in newer models as you see in description above

How do you change the User and System passwords?

  1. From the display go to Menu > Settings > Password.
  2. Select User to change the User password, select System to change the System password.
  3. Select check mark to confirm
  4. Done

Also keep in mind that through the SmartLife App you can share the system with multiple users. This will give them access to Arm/Disarm the system as well. You can also remove these user(s) at anytime. NOTE: Whoever you decide to share the system with, will have to setup an account on the SmartLife app as well.

Locked out? Try this!

The system comes with 2 default passcodes when you first plug in the display. There's a "System" default password of 6666, and a default "User" password 1234.

If you already set up a code and you forgot it and are locked out please fill out a support ticket
