Door and window sensor Open and Closed notification settings

3 min. readlast update: 04.25.2024

A new setting introduced on the Gen 2 Alarm Panel (firmware ver. 2.1.22) now allows it to keep a security record of when an entry sensor,  such as a door or window has been opened or closed. This can be enabled or disabled if you do not want a 'Security record' of when a door or window has been opened or closed.

In addition to this, on the Smart Life app you can now receive a notification when a door or window sensor has been opened or closed. This is when the alarm system is in the disarmed state. This can be enabled or disabled on the smart life app if you do not want to receive this notification. Disabling this option will also stop security records from being kept when a door or window has been opened or closed.

Important: Whether you enable or disable this function, it will not affect the alarm system when the alarm panel is armed and a sensor is triggered.  An 'Entry Alarm' history log will always be recorded on the alarm panel as well as the Smart Life app Security Record. You will also receive a notification provided that you have 'System Notification' turned ON' in the Smart Life 'App Notification Settings'

How to enable or disable this function on the alarm panel display

  1. Select the 'Connection' button
  2. Enter your passcode
  3. Then select the 'Sensor' button

  4. Then select the door or window entry sensor.
  5. Then select the 'Entry Sensor' Advanced button
  6. You can then enable or disable the 'Entry Event notification' setting
  7. When enabled, the alarm panel will keep a log under 'Alarm Log'  when the door or window has been opened or closed.

  8. Selecting the Sheild on the main menu of the alarm panel will reveal the 'Alarm Log'.

On the 'Alarm Log' you will then see when a door/window has been opened and closed.

To enable or disable this function on the Smart Life App

1.  On the Smart life app open the OSI Alarm device and select 'Setting'

  1. Scroll up until you see 'Entry notification' You can disable this setting if you do not want to receive a notification when a door/window has been opened.

In addition, when this button is disabled, the 'Security records' on the app will not keep a log of when a door or window has been opened or closed.

Please note that this setting is dependant on the 'Entry Sensor' on the alarm panel display, under the advanced setting being enabled as discussed in the above instructions on How to enable or disable this function on the alarm panel display
